Crafting Context: The In-game Cut-scene


A minor issue that had arisen about half way through the production pipe-line was, since the narrative contributes greatly to the purpose of the gameplay, and the narrative itself is slightly too involved to be explained simply, we were worried that there would be a loss of context within the gameplay experience. Our solution was to produce a short in-game cut-scene that would quickly summarize the history leading up to proceeding events of “The Duke”, whilst simultaneously introducing the Duke character to the audience. The artwork for this short was rendered by our team’s concept artist, Liangwei Zlwei.
